Table super-elliptical - Fritz Hansen

Table super-elliptical - Fritz Hansen
Arne Jacobsen

Series Piet ™, Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson, Arne Jacobsen 1968. The series includes: the Super Elliptic ™ table, the Super Circula ™, designed by Piet Hein and Bruno Mathsson and circular, square and rectangular designed by Arne Jacobsen. The most prominent member of the series, the Super-elliptical ™ table, was inspired by designer Piet Hein's solution to a traffic problem at Sergels Torg in Stockholm: a super-elliptical roundabout. The ingenious form was conceived in his mathematical mind. This variation of an oval possesses some attractive qualities and seemed surprisingly harmonious no matter the size. The form based on the formula has no extremes and this is why the Super elliptical table ™ can be seen as a prototype table where everyone has a position of equality. Piet Hein, Mathsson Bruno and Arne Jacobsen contributed to the design of the base of all tables. The series of coffee tables presents models with different shapes and sizes. With very few exceptions, the tables are presented in two different finishes: laminate and veneer. The laminate is available in white, gray, black and walnut plating.
